USTLG Meeting 28th November 2013 Discussion Topics

At our meeting on the 28th November 2013 we are introducing Discussion Tables (may have to be renamed Discussion Sessions due to a lack of tables) into the day. As part of your booking, we asked you all to suggest topics for discussion. A big thank you to everyone who suggested topics. We have received so many varying topics we thought we would try and cover as many as possible by having each “table” discuss a different topic and then have a quick round up from each group at the end of each Discussion session.

To help this run smoothly, and so you can (hopefully) discuss the topic area you are most interested in, there will be sign up sheets available for the morning and afternoon discussion sessions. However to help you decide we have also included a preview of the topics up for discussion below. We hope that you find these sessions valuable.

Morning discussion session

  • Information Literacy  for Science/technology/engineering students
  • Supporting the transition to University
  • Referencing and referencing software
  • Supporting Research
  • Getting and staying up to date in Science Subject Librarianship

Afternoon discussion session

  • Ebooks
  • Social Media
  • Research Data Management
  • How to cope with Increasing student numbers
  • Top teaching tips – bring and share
